Avoid procrastination by keeping a healthy snack and a drink nearby to avoid stopping work to get one. Also use the washroom before you begin working.
Have your tools handy: pen, paper, highlighter, dictionary, ruler, crayons, calculator. Extra poster board, glue, and scissors are good to have in a closet somewhere too.
Pick a table or desk where you can get work done without distraction. The kitchen table often works well, because parents are around to help, and keep children on task.
Get into a routine, study at the same place and the same time each day.
Make a plan. Look at your assignment notebook, and plan to start with the more difficult work first
Have a homework buddy. Write down the number of a friend, just in case you forget what the assignment was.
Start
Just start. Once you get going, it's much easier to continue. It is best to start shortly after arriving home from school, to avoid getting too tired.
Always read the directions.
Reward yourself when you finish a task. Get up and stretch, sharpen the pencil, get a drink of water etc.
Stay on target, don't let a TV show or video game distract you.
